WASHINGTON D.C. (WVIR) – Seventh District Rep. Abigail Spanberger delivered a parting message from the House floor on Monday, December 9.
The Virginia Democrat reflected on her achievements as her six-year run in Congress comes to a close.
Spanberger spoke about lowering prescription drug costs for seniors in the 7th District and expanding health care benefits for veterans.
“The greatest honor of my life has been to serve you in the US House of Representatives for these three terms,” Spanberger said. “I’ve had the privilege of representing a cross-section of what makes this extraordinary country. When I was first elected to Congress, I promised to work tirelessly for the people I serve. I promised to be effective and responsive.”
Spanberger also thanked those who have supported her along the way.
She is giving up her seat to run in Virginia’s gubernatorial race next year.
Democratic representative-elect Eugene Vindman will take Spanberger’s place next year.
