8News sat down with former Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger, the Democratic nominee for governor.

This week’s conversation in Henrico County marks exactly six months until Election Day. 

Spanberger and 8News Capitol Bureau Reporter Tyler Englander discussed key topics, including what’s at stake in this election, economic issues, education, and reproductive rights.

Meanwhile, 8News offered current Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears, the Republican nominee, the same opportunity to discuss her campaign and the 2025 election. 

Last Wednesday, we were told by her campaign that they could “guarantee” time for an interview this week. When we followed up on a specific date and time for the interview, her campaign did not respond.

8News hopes to speak with Sears in the coming weeks.
