ICYMI: Spanberger Stresses Her Focus on Affordability, Lowering Costs for Virginia Families

“The Top Issues That I Have Heard Since I First Launched My Campaign Across the Commonwealth Are Issues of Cost and Affordability”

Spanberger Also Continues to Speak Out Against the Trump Administration’s Attacks on Virginia’s Workforce & Economy

RICHMOND, Va. — Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger yesterday spoke with WTOP, FOX 5 DC, and NBC4 Washington about what she’s hearing from Virginia families who are struggling to keep up with rising costs — and highlighted her focus on building a more affordable Commonwealth as the next Governor of Virginia.

As many Virginians are spending more of their hard-earned paychecks to care for their families, the Trump Administration’s attacks on federal workers — of which Virginia is home to more than 320,000 — are exacerbating the impacts on Virginians.

In yesterday’s interviews, Spanberger discussed what she’s hearing from Virginians about the high cost of living across the Commonwealth. Additionally, she continued to speak out against attacks on the federal workforce and Virginia’s economy — as well as President Trump’s proposed freeze of all federal funding. She underscored how these reckless attacks could increase already high housing and healthcare costs for Virginians.

WTOP [Washington D.C.]

[The big issue] continues to be a question of affordability, whether it’s at the pharmacy counter, the grocery store, or in the housing market.

And when you couple that with the challenges that we’re seeing across Virginia, where we do have more than 320,000 people who are federal employees, in addition to so many contractors and so many small business owners whose clientele is heavily skewed towards the federal workforce.

The way that we make the challenges of housing supply worse or rising healthcare costs worse is having a significant portion of our community either lose their jobs — or live under the threat of potentially losing their jobs.

FOX5 [Washington D.C.]

The top issues that I have heard since I first launched my campaign across the Commonwealth are issues of cost and affordability — whether it’s at the grocery store, the pharmacy counter, or in the housing market.

NBC4 [Washington D.C.]

As Governor, I want to focus on the things that matter most to Virginians — that’s standing up for Virginians, our federal workforce, and certainly small business owners who are impacted by the attack on the federal workforce.
