Throughout my first year in Congress, I’ve shared the views of central Virginians directly with administration officials, including U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer. And at a White House meeting with Vice President Mike Pence earlier this month, I joined five of my colleagues from across the country to underscore the importance of the USMCA to our regions. We also discussed how there is clear bipartisan agreement on the USMCA — and that we shouldn’t be afraid to move it forward. Just a few days later, House negotiators and the administration finally announced a deal.

It promises to open new export markets for Virginia cattle, dairy and poultry producers by leveling the playing field between the U.S. and Canada, she told the Culpeper Star-Exponent.

Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger, a Democrat from the Richmond suburbs, has a bill that would allow the public to see more information about how rebates and discounts factor into drug prices. The bill would require the federal government to publish all the information submitted about drug discounts online for everyone to see.
The bill swept through the House of Representatives this week with zero no votes. Now it’s on its way to the Senate and potentially even to the president’s desk to be signed into law.

GLEN ALLEN, Va. — Once Rep. Abigail Spanberger embraced the secret life of a CIA operative, she never imagined breaking cover.
She handled and recruited spies in Europe, where she specialized in counterterrorism and nuclear proliferation issues. She aspired to an appointment somewhere as chief of station, the Langley equivalent of ambassador. Instead she wound up leaving the agency in 2014 in search of a less nomadic life after having three children.
