Job Description: Organizing Director

Abigail Spanberger’s 2025 campaign for Governor is seeking a highly organized and experienced Organizing Director for the most high-profile race in the nation in 2025. The Organizing Director will be fundamental in developing a statewide ballot access program, designing an effective organizing strategy, building volunteer and voter outreach infrastructure, and managing all quantitative and qualitative field metrics. This position may scale into a Coordinated Director role.

The Organizing Director will report directly to the Campaign Manager. This is a full-time position based in Richmond, Virginia. 

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Develop and implement a statewide ballot access program that can scale into the 2025 statewide organizing program.
  • Hire and oversee all Organizing Department staff and volunteers.
  • Create systems and structures to optimize performance and meet departmental goals.
  • Manage external relationships with the larger Virginia Democratic ecosystem to maximize efficiency.
  • Collaborate with various departments to build support structures for the organizing team.
  • Develop unique campaign verticals, including a turfed team, distributed team, and others in order to persuade and mobilize key constituencies across Virginia.
  • Regularly report on the program’s quantitative metrics to campaign leadership, including the Campaign Manager and Principal.
  • Maintain a training program that boosts staff productivity and develops volunteers’ core skills.
  • Motivate a large statewide team to flourish in a fast-paced and rigorous work environment.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

  • At least (4) four years organizing experience with a strong preference for at least (2) two cycles on a statewide electoral organizing program. 
  • Virginia experience preferred.
  • Experience managing staff through multiple layers.
  • Proven fluency with NGP VAN and other crucial outreach and digital infrastructure.
  • Capacity to create and oversee advanced internal tracking systems.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail, highly-developed organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

 

Compensation:

$9,000/month, commensurate with experience. Health, vision, and dental insurance are included with Employee premiums covered 100% by Spanberger for Governor.
