Job Description: Deputy Organizing Director

The Abigail Spanberger for Governor Campaign is seeking an experienced Deputy Organizing Director to lead a diverse and robust team of Regional Organizing Directors in 2025. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to building the grassroots organizing operation needed to win Virginia elections in 2025.

The Deputy Organizing Director will report directly to the Organizing Director. This is a full-time position based in Virginia.

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Coach and manage a team of Regional Organizing Directors.
  • Develop strategies and systems that lead your regions to successfully meet and exceed daily, weekly, and phase organizing goals, as well as maintain data integrity.
  • Assist the Organizing Director in program development and execution for key programs including but not limited to ballot petitioning, direct voter contact, and community organizing.
  • Work effectively with other campaign departments to facilitate support structures for the organizing team.
  • Keep your team focused and motivated in a high-stress, rigorous work schedule and environment.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

  • At least (2) two cycles of organizing experience with staff management responsibilities, experience managing managers is preferred.
  • Ability to create a motivating & inclusive culture both in specific super-regions and statewide.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively and clearly communicate with different types of stakeholders, from high level elected officials to grassroots activists.
  • Experience hiring and training a sizable team.
  • Willingness to manage a diverse team with different experiences and perspectives, and a commitment to helping them grow and succeed.
  • Experience working in large, metric driven voter contact programs.
  • A desire to work long campaign hours, including evenings and weekends in 2025.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.

 

Compensation:

$7,500/month, commensurate with experience. Health, vision, and dental insurance are included with Employee premiums covered 100% by Spanberger for Governor.
