Job Description: Deputy Operations Director (Advance)

Abigail Spanberger’s 2025 campaign for Governor is seeking a highly organized, experienced, and enthusiastic team player to join their growing Operations Team. This opportunity is geared towards individuals looking to learn from and be a part of the most high-profile race in the nation in 2025

The Deputy Operations Director will spearhead all campaign Advance activities and protocols while directly managing Advance staff. The role will coordinate closely with the Campaign Leadership, Scheduling, and Security Teams, in addition to other key internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate should be assertive, detail oriented, and able to work effectively in rapidly changing environments. Experience in Advance and event planning in the political space required.

The Deputy Operations Director (Advance) will report directly to the Operations Director. This is a full-time position based in Richmond, Virginia.

 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate and oversee logistics for campaign events with the Operations Director.
  • Develop Advance protocols, manuals, and materials for the campaign. 
  • Create and maintain event budgets.
  • Work closely with the Operations, Political, Scheduling, and Security Teams to plan and execute events.
  • Build a network of hosts, volunteers, and supporters.
  • Travel to and coordinate with all staff to campaign events. 
  • Coordinate with Communications and Digital Departments for coverage of events.
  • Manage event ordering and vendor relationships.
  • Aid in operations/advance staff recruitment and interview processes.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

  • At least (2) two years professional experience in an operations, campaign management, advance, or event management role.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Access to a car and experience working events and traveling for work.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • A desire to work long campaign hours, including evenings and weekends in 2025.

 

Compensation:

$7,500/month, commensurate with experience. Health, vision, and dental insurance are included with Employee premiums covered 100% by Spanberger for Governor.
