Spanberger: “Women in Virginia Deserve Leaders Who Will Protect Against Efforts to Roll Back Their Care”
RICHMOND, Va. — Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger today released the following statement during National Women’s Health Week, reaffirming her commitment to protecting women’s reproductive rights and access to contraception.
“As the next Governor of Virginia, I’m focused on lowering healthcare costs, defending access to affordable coverage, and protecting Virginians’ access to care — including women’s access to reproductive healthcare.
“Access to contraception and birth control is fundamental to women’s health and safety. Fertility care, like IVF, is a life-changing tool for hopeful parents. Decisions impacting women’s reproductive health should be made by women and their doctors with the support of family and friends — without interference from politicians in Richmond that could jeopardize their health, their future ability to start or grow their families, or even their lives.
“Women in Virginia deserve leaders who will protect against efforts to roll back their care. As the next Governor of Virginia, I will always protect women’s fundamental right to privacy — particularly when it comes to making their own personal healthcare decisions.”
