Governor-Elect Spanberger Addresses Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Highlights Plans to Support Virginia Entrepreneurs, Small Businesses

Governor-Elect Spanberger: “We Need to Encourage Innovators to Build Tomorrow’s World-Class Companies Right Here in Virginia”

RICHMOND, Va. — Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger today joined business leaders from across Virginia to celebrate the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s 25th anniversary.

In remarks at the event, Spanberger outlined her focus on growing Virginia’s economy and supporting the entrepreneurs and small business owners that power the Commonwealth.

“We must support the innovators, entrepreneurs, and small business owners — like many of you here today — who turn ideas into opportunity in Virginia,” said Spanberger. “That’s why I’m committed to expanding access to public and private capital for Virginia’s entrepreneurs of all backgrounds. We need to encourage innovators to build tomorrow’s world-class companies right here in Virginia — not anywhere else.”

Spanberger continued, “I will also endeavor to make sure there is stability and certainty across Virginia’s business environment — particularly as we continue to face the ramifications caused by the uncertainty and chaos in Washington.”

Spanberger also previewed the steps her administration will take together with the General Assembly to make Virginia more affordable for families and small businesses alike.

“Not only are rising costs straining personal budgets and hurting small businesses, they are preventing Virginia from unleashing the full potential of our workforce,” said Spanberger. “That’s why next week — together with leaders from the General Assembly — I will be unveiling legislative priorities to lower costs for Virginia families, and in particular, tackle the high cost of healthcare, housing, and energy.”

Spanberger continued, “I’m ready to work with anyone — Republican or Democrat — to make it easier for families to build a life in Virginia. Because as everyone here knows, high costs and the inability to attract top talent to Virginia affect everyone — no matter what party you belong to, and no matter if you have 15 employees or 5,000.”
