In Congress, Abigail served as the only Virginian on the U.S. House Agriculture Committee. In this role, she represented the voices of our Commonwealth’s rural communities and Virginia’s number-one private industry, agriculture. As Governor, she will continue to make sure the voices of Virginia’s farmers, producers, agribusinesses, and rural families are heard in Richmond.
As the next Governor of Virginia, Abigail will remain focused on getting things done for Virginia’s crop and livestock producers — including addressing trade concerns, increasing access to capital, and expanding Virginia farmers’ access to domestic and foreign markets. Additionally, she will champion policies that protect Virginia’s family farms and rural economy. Abigail is a proud multi-year recipient of the “Friend of Farm Bureau Award” from the Virginia Farm Bureau.
Abigail is also committed to improving healthcare access across rural Virginia, because she believes that health outcomes should not be dictated by zip code. As Governor, Abigail will invest in Virginia’s rural healthcare workforce — from community health workers to doctors, nurses, dentists, and midwives. That means Abigail will support institutions in rural communities responsible for educating the next generation of healthcare providers. As the next Governor of Virginia, Abigail is also committed to improving access to telehealth for Virginians in rural communities.
Additionally, Abigail knows that high-speed internet access is essential to the day-to-day operations of schools, hospitals, first responders, and small businesses across the Commonwealth — but as a Member of Congress, she saw that many Virginians still did not have reliable access to high-speed internet. One of Abigail’s top priorities in Congress was to advance bipartisan legislation to make sure all Virginians are connected to high-speed broadband internet. As Governor, Abigail will continue to support strong investments and state-level grant programs to help more Virginians finish their homework assignments, keep up with telehealth appointments, grow their businesses, and stay in touch with their loved ones.
