NEW: More Members of the Virginia House of Delegates Endorse Abigail Spanberger for Governor of Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. — Today, additional members of the Virginia House of Delegates endorsed U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger to serve as the 75th Governor of Virginia.

Today’s endorsements reflect the growing coalition of support Spanberger is building across the Commonwealth, particularly in the General Assembly.

The following Virginia House of Delegates members today endorsed Spanberger for Governor:

Del. Alfonso Lopez, Virginia House of Delegates, District 3

Del. Candi Mundon King, Virginia House of Delegates, District 23

Del. David Reid, Virginia House of Delegates, District 28

Del. Michael J. Jones, Virginia House of Delegates, District 77

Del. Rae Cousins, Virginia House of Delegates, District 79

“I’ve come to know Abigail Spanberger as a tireless champion for Virginia families, Virginia’s economy, and Virginia’s infrastructure. She listens to those who are rarely heard, she cares about the safety of our kids, and she loves the Commonwealth of Virginia. That’s what Northern Virginia and all of Virginia needs in our next Governor. Abigail has my strongest possible endorsement for Governor, because I know she will work with the General Assembly to lower costs for families, increase opportunities for our students, and protect our environment. And she will always stand up for the rights of all Virginians, even in the face of continued threats and chaos.” — Del. Alfonso Lopez, Virginia House of Delegates, District 3

“Abigail Spanberger has been a leader who doesn’t just show up — she rolls up her sleeves and gets to work. When Abigail began representing our community in Congress, she didn’t just show up — she truly listened. She took the time to understand our struggles, our hopes, and our needs. But she didn’t stop there. Abigail got to work, delivering real results for our infrastructure, improving public safety, and expanding mental health services. Her leadership has made a meaningful difference in people’s lives. That’s why I am so proud to endorse Abigail Spanberger for Governor. I know she will lead with the same dedication, heart, and results-driven approach to strengthen our public schools, invest in our HBCUs, lower the cost of living, and tackle the maternal mortality crisis. Abigail Spanberger is the leader we can trust to move Virginia forward and deliver for every family in our Commonwealth.” — Del. Candi Mundon King, Virginia House of Delegates, District 23

“As a U.S. Navy Veteran, I’m grateful for Abigail Spanberger’s unwavering commitment to our servicemembers, veterans, and their families. Also, as someone who grew up in rural Virginia, I greatly appreciate her focus on increasing economic opportunities for our rural communities. I’m proud to give my strongest possible endorsement to Abigail as the next Governor of Virginia. Her commitment to public service and bringing people together is exactly what this moment requires. I look forward to working with her to protect Virginia’s public schools, invest in new Virginia jobs, and lower costs for families in Loudoun County and across the Commonwealth.” — Del. David Reid, Virginia House of Delegates, District 28

“Abigail Spanberger is ready to serve as our next Governor, and I’m proud to endorse her. I’ve seen her dedication to the people of Virginia firsthand. She knows the importance of strong schools, jobs with good benefits, and an economy that works for everyone. These are the values that unite us as Virginians. Abigail will work with those of us in the General Assembly to build a better politics that doesn’t divide us — but brings us together.” — Del. Michael J. Jones, Virginia House of Delegates, District 77

“Abigail Spanberger is prepared and ready to lead Virginia as our next Governor. Not only does she show up and listen, but she has proven herself as a champion for public education, reproductive rights, and the safety of our neighborhoods. We need her determination, her work ethic, and her empathy alongside us in Richmond. There’s too much on the line in 2025 and beyond, and that’s why I endorse Abigail for Governor.” — Del. Rae Cousins, Virginia House of Delegates, District 79

These elected officials join a growing chorus of leaders from all corners of Virginia who’ve endorsed Spanberger to serve as the next Governor of Virginia.

BACKGROUND

Spanberger is serving her third term in the U.S. House of Representatives. In Congress, she serves on the U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the U.S. House Agriculture Committee. Before Congress, Spanberger served as a federal law enforcement officer — working narcotics and money laundering cases — and as a CIA case officer — working undercover on counterterrorism and nuclear counterproliferation cases.

She and her husband Adam are the proud parents of three school-aged daughters.
