FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger tonight released the following statement congratulating Eugene Vindman on winning the Seventh District Democratic primary.
“Serving the people of Virginia’s Seventh District has been the greatest honor of my life. Now, I look forward to working with Eugene Vindman to make sure Virginians continue to have strong, responsive, and commonsense representation in Congress.
“In the U.S. House, I’ve been proud to focus on the issues that matter most to Virginians — lowering prescription drug costs, supporting our Veterans, investing in Virginia infrastructure projects, and working with both parties to prevent drug overdoses. We’ve gotten things done by bringing people together, and I know that Eugene will bring this same approach.
“But there is hard work ahead — including protecting our fundamental rights and defending our democracy from ongoing attacks. That’s why I’ll be hitting the campaign trail with Eugene from now until Election Day to make clear the stakes of this election for our communities, our Commonwealth, and our country.”

Spanberger was first elected to represent Virginia’s Seventh District in 2018 — and she was reelected in both 2020 and 2022. In November 2023, she announced that she would not seek reelection and instead would run in 2025 to serve as the next Governor of Virginia.
