Congresswoman: “Virginians Deserve Elected Officials Who Will Deliver Results, Not Lawmakers Who Aim to Further Divide Us”
RICHMOND, Va. — U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger today released the following statement marking Election Day 2024 in Virginia and across the country.
“In our democratic republic, power rests with the people. Our citizens determine the direction of our Commonwealth and our country. In the strongest possible terms, I encourage all Virginia voters to exercise their right to vote. This right was earned, not given, through generations of struggle — and American heroes fought and died to defend it.
“The stakes of this year’s elections are high. Here in Virginia, we have the opportunity to elect Democratic candidates who will lower costs for Virginia families, keep our kids safe, stand up for our Veterans, and protect our fundamental rights — including the right to choose. Virginians deserve elected officials who will deliver results, not lawmakers who aim to further divide us.
“As we participate in this American tradition, I join all Virginians in expressing our gratitude to the election workers, law enforcement, and volunteers who’ve staffed the polls. Thank you for making early voting and Election Day safe, secure, and successful.”
