Spanberger: “Today, and Every Day, My Heart Is With the Spouses, Siblings, Parents, and Children Across Our Commonwealth Who Have Lost a Loved One in the Line of Duty”
RICHMOND, Va. — Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger today released the following statement marking National Peace Officers Memorial Day, honoring Virginia’s fallen law enforcement officers.
“Today, we honor the brave Virginians who were killed in the line of duty as they kept our communities safe. On National Peace Officers Memorial Day, Virginians remember the fallen law enforcement officers across our Commonwealth for their unflinching courage.
“As the daughter of a retired law enforcement officer, I know that feeling of worry when your loved one puts on their badge. And I know that for far, far too many families, their greatest fear is realized when their loved one does not return home.
“Today, and every day, my heart is with the spouses, siblings, parents, and children across our Commonwealth who have lost a loved one in the line of duty. Virginia stands with the families of these brave men and women — and we join our neighbors in recognizing their loved ones’ service and sacrifice.”
