HENRICO, Va. — U.S. Rep. Don Beyer (VA-08) today endorsed U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger to serve as the 75th Governor of Virginia.
Beyer represents Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, and parts of Fairfax County in the U.S. House of Representatives. He served as the 36th Lieutenant Governor of Virginia from 1990 to 1998.
Beyer released the following statement:

“In Congress, I’ve watched Abigail address the most pressing issues of our time. When its passage was in doubt, Abigail pushed the bipartisan infrastructure law over the finish line — and now the people of Virginia are reaping the rewards. Against all odds, she brought lawmakers of both parties together to pass landmark legislation to address climate change — no easy feat. And she has been on the foremost front lines of protecting our democracy as it remains under attack.”

Spanberger thanked Beyer for his strong endorsement and his service to the people of Virginia.

Earlier this week, Spanberger announced her run to become the 75th Governor of Virginia.
BACKGROUND
U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger (VA-07) is serving her third term in the U.S. House of Representatives. In Congress, she serves on the U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the U.S. House Agriculture Committee.
Before Congress, Spanberger served as a federal law enforcement officer — tracking narcotics traffickers and working money laundering cases — and as a CIA case officer — working undercover on counterterrorism and nuclear counterproliferation cases. She and her husband Adam are raising three school-aged daughters in Virginia.
