WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-VA-10) today officially endorsed U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger to serve as the next Governor of Virginia.
Wexton has served the people of Northern Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley for over two decades as a prosecutor, state Senator, and now Member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Both Spanberger and Wexton were first elected to the U.S. House in 2018 — and both flipped their districts from Republican control to Democratic control.
“Abigail is a strong and compassionate leader, traits I’ve seen since we first hit the campaign trail together back in 2018. She cares deeply about the Virginians she serves — and when she sees a problem, she fixes it,” said Wexton. “As a former state Senator and a current Member of Congress, I know that Abigail’s record of public service, her willingness to find common ground, and her lifelong commitment to our Commonwealth and our country make her the right choice to be Virginia’s next Governor. I’m proud to not only endorse her, but I’m also proud to know that Virginia will grow and succeed under her leadership in the coming years.”
“Congresswoman Wexton is well-known as a tireless advocate for the people of Virginia. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated exceptional determination, tenacity, and courage — and we can all learn from her example. I know I do every day,” said Spanberger. “I am truly honored to receive this endorsement from my friend and colleague. Our Commonwealth is stronger and safer thanks to Congresswoman Wexton’s many years of service — from Loudoun County to Richmond to Washington.”
Yesterday, Spanberger announced her run to become the 75th Governor of Virginia.
