Scott: “Abigail Spanberger is Going to Win in November 2025 — and Then, Together We are Going to Move Virginia Forward”
PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates Don Scott today endorsed U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger to serve as the next Governor of Virginia.
A prominent attorney and former U.S. Navy officer, Don Scott previously served as the House Democratic Leader, leading the Virginia House Democratic Caucus back into the majority in November 2023. In January 2024, he was elected Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates — making history as the first Black Speaker elected in the body’s 400-year history.
“Last year, Virginians made history electing me as the first Black Speaker in our Commonwealth’s history. It’s time to make history again and elect Abigail Spanberger as our first woman Governor,” said Scott. “Abigail Spanberger doesn’t wait for others to take the first step — she acts decisively and with purpose. That’s the leadership we need in Richmond as we fight to deliver for everyday Virginians.”
